Today in 1947, the modern era of the "flying saucer" began.

While flying a plane he owned, Kenneth Arnold spotted nine shiny objects flying near Mount Rainier, Washington. He described them as resembling saucers skipping over water.

WHAT HAPPENED:
Two motorists, who had stopped near the Mansfield Dam, were trying to signal to a cigar shaped UFO. One was using his headlights and the other was using a flashlight.
