WHAT HAPPENED:
During the first Everest reconnaissance expedition in 1921, Lt. Col. C. K. Howard-Bury and companions spotted several dark shapes moving in a snowfield far above them. When they finally get there, at a spot more than 2,000 feet up, they found a number of huge footprints.
