LOCATION:
New York City, NY   USA

WHAT HAPPENED:
Judge Crater (maybe one of the most famous of all mysterious disappearances, at least at the time anyway) left for a trip to Maine four days ago in 1930.

He then returned two days later and then, on this day, disappeared and was never seen or heard from again.

When he disappeared, he had cashed checks amounting to more than $5,000. In the afternoon, he spent his time collecting papers from his office. That evening he dined with a beautiful showgirl named Sally Lou Ritz and a lawyer friend William Klein and his companion.

After dinner he hailed a cab and that was the last anyone ever saw of him again.
