Singapore

WHAT HAPPENED:
In 1861 on February 16th, an earthquake struck Singapore. This was followed by torrential rains which fell from February 20th (today) to the 22nd.

Francis de Castelnau, a respected traveler and naturalist, then living in Singapore, gave an account of villagers picking up loads of fish from the pools of water left by the rains.
