WHAT HAPPENED:
Jesús María de Galíndez, teacher of Hispanic-American history and politics at Columbia University, disappears. During the investigation there was evidence that he was kidnapped by Rafael Trujillo, tyrannical dictator of the Dominican Republic, which Galíndez, had criticized in a 750-page doctoral thesis.
