WHY ARE BIG BIRDS SUCH A BIG DEAL?

A fair question really. After all, birds are just birds (and not like a bigfoot or a chupacabra) and so what if they are bigger than normal? What makes that such a big deal?

There are usually more to these big bird sightings than just size alone.

According to http://www.australianfauna.com/ostrich.php, ostriches are the largest birds alive today. It can get up to 9 feet tall and weigh over 300 pounds.

Many times, not only is it that they look big enough to carry away a small child, but also the way they look

In these particular cases, the big bird was named after the Big Bird of Sesame Street fame.
