It has been more than a month since two Rockhampton parents saw their daughter, Rhian Elsmore.

The 17-year-old Rockhampton State High School student went missing from the Rockhampton area after recently moving to the city from its outskirts.

She has limited funds and family are concerned for her health.

Yesterday police were called in to investigate as safety fears grew stronger.

Detective Sergeant Nick Williams said it was extremely unusual for Rhian not to have contacted her parents in this length of time.

He said she was seen by a friend more than two weeks ago, on April 6, in Musgrave Street, but that was the last positive sighting.

It's unknown what she was wearing or where she was heading.

Det. Sgt Williams said it was possible she could have travelled to the Gladstone area.

The parents are calling for the public's help to find their daughter.

If anyone has information call Rockhampton police on (07) 4932 3500, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
