WHAT HAPPENED:
Yesterday, Tracey Lawson, 11 and her cousin Jackie Davies 14, saw a weird looking bird.

Today, Jackie's stepfather went out to check on his stepdaughter's story.

It has been speculated by some researchers that the reason Tracey's parents didn't go out to verify the children's sighting immediately was because they were not only still recovering from the previous night's "excesses", but because they were also skeptical of her and Jackie's story. This is understandable to us and a reasonable explaination as to why nothing was done until the next day (this date in 1976) when Jackie's stepfather, Tom Waldon finally went out to the Lawson property to check for evidence (or lack thereof) to either disprove or prove his stepdaughter's story.

To his utter surprise, he found several "three-toed" tracks around various locations on the property. Not only were they twelve-inches long and eight-inches wide, but were also sunk an inch and a half deep into the ground.

According to http://www.australianfauna.com/ostrich.php, the largest known bird is the ostrich (capable of reaching up to nine-feet in height and weighing up to 345 pounds), and although the tracks of a full-grown bird can average about seven inches in length, they only have two toes.

An interesting tidbit of information that we found while researching this particular sighting was that when Tracey's dad (who weighed approximately 170 pounds at the time) tried to recreate the deepness of the tracks, he barely left any kind of a track at all.

RESEARCH NOTES:
One of our sources[2] not only described the bird as black and over five-feet tall with large red eyes and a beak almost six-inches long, but that it also produced a shrill prolonged "eee" sound.
